Hi! I’m David Behm, a trombonist and music educator in the Twin Cities.
My name is David Behm. I grew up attending Rosemount High School where I was borderline obsessed with music. I was active in marching band, jazz band, wind ensemble and even started a trombone choir with friends after school.
The band programs in middle school and high school are where I met my best friends to this day. We challenged each other to grow musically and academically, and supported each other through the multitude of challenges our teenage years brought. By the time I was an upperclassman I went to All-State, the University of Minnesota Honor band, and the Minnesota Youth Jazz program, all while forging strong relationships with my classmates, band directors, and teachers.
I took private lessons as a teenager and am forever grateful for the accountability, organization, and responsibility they helped me develop. It was tough at first, but truly life changing for me as a young kid to regularly show up to lessons, perform, receive criticism, and develop the habit of regularly practicing upon that criticism. As an adult, I rely on the skills I learned as a private lesson student to create good habits, and track myself on progress towards meeting my professional and personal goals. Because of the individualized instruction possible in the one-on-one lesson setting, your student will be met where they are, as both a musician and a unique person, and I will work my hardest to nurture your student’s growth according to their needs.
